Boring Post, Important Announcement

Sorry this post is going to be boring as I am uninspired to write at the moment… but just one piece of news:

ERN SHEONG WILL BE GETTING BAPTIZED TOMORROW!!!!

I remember many years ago seeing people get baptized in church and I wondered whether I would ever come to that stage in my walk with Christ. Fast forward years later and now I am getting baptized tomorrow! It means that I will be dedicating my life to living for Christ.

I want to thank many people, especially the City Harvest members in Singapore and KL who have helped me through so far, as well as a few close friends who have helped me get back on track in this Christian walk, and provided me with so much care and guidance to make me feel supported and encouraged. Not to mention my mum who whole-heartedly approved my decision to get baptized.

@mayshi: hey thanks!!!!!! aha yes looking forward to what you have to tell me =)

@Jun-Li: hmmm i think that there is no such thing as a born-Christian. When we are babies, we cannot choose to believe even though we may be from a Christian upbringing. We might follow our parents to church, do all the Christian stuff and grow up around church but still later on the decision will have to be solely ours, not because of our family. That’s why beyond our first baptism as babies, we normally get baptized again later on, when we have sound and independent judgment and deliberately CHOOSE to follow Jesus. More on this in an excerpt from the article in the link above:

Water baptism is for those who believe. “He who believes and is baptised shall be saved.” (Mark 16:16). No promise is made to those who are baptised without believing. Many people are “baptised” as babies, by immersion in the Orthodox Tradition or by sprinkling in the Catholic, Anglican and Reformed traditions. However, there is no example in the New Testament of babies being baptised. A baby, as yet without understanding, cannot believe the gospel, cannot repent, cannot confess its sin. It is not yet responsible for its actions, and God, who is infinitely just, does not condemn to damnation babies who die. “Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 19:14). Innocent babies and very small children belong to God. “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10).

Praise the Lord on this important milestone in your walk with Jesus! May the Lord’s will for you be done in your life as you walk humbly and obediently with Him and may His greater purposes be fulfilled through you and His name be glorified, that the world may know that we serve the Risen Lord! ^^
